Baystate Racing, LLC and Whitney Companies seek to partner with Leominster, MA to transform the Leominster landfill into a vibrant entertainment destination. This revitalization project aims to energize the community, drive economic growth, and create enriching experiences for all, turning an underutilized space into a hub of excitement, fun and opportunity.

The Proposed Site
The proposed site for the project is located at the former landfill on Mechanic Street in Leominster, MA, with the only access point being off the Leominster Connector. A dedicated exit from the Connector will help alleviate traffic congestion on Mechanic Street, while new sidewalks will be added to enhance pedestrian safety. Additionally, further studies will be conducted to address existing infrastructure concerns on Mechanic Street. Bay State Racing will assume full responsibility for all race day setup, cleanup, and security costs, ensuring a seamless and well-managed event experience.
How it Works
The inclusion of a racetrack in the fairgrounds project is a strategic step toward securing a gaming license from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Horse and sports wagering generate over $1 million in annual revenue for the city of Leominster, making it a valuable economic driver. To obtain a license from the MGC, a racetrack venue is a necessary requirement, ensuring the city can continue to benefit from this significant revenue stream.
